Since Mac OS X 10.3, there is no identd server on the system. So I've decided to build a standalone identd server. This server runs on Tiger and is provided with a preference pane which allows you to easily start or stop it. This identd server returns the short username of the user which is currently logged in Aqua.
This kind of server could be useful if your Mac is behind a proxy server which requires authentication or when you use IRC.
